STARTER VEGGIE PATCH

When starting your own veggie patch the first thing to consider is how much space and time you plan on investing in your garden.  I would also suggest that when deciding on what to plant, don't just plant what you find easy to grow, make sure you plant veggies that you will actually use.

If you have limited space avoid vegetables that vine out unless that is the only crop you plan to have.  Vegetables will cross breed when planted to close together.  Instead plant veggies like carrots, beets, peppers, potatoes, etc.

Our plants and vegetable availability start in the spring.  Our first vegetable crop is garlic, our first plants available in the spring are strawberry plants.

Our largest crop are strawberries.  Strawberries start in early June and depending on the weather can last into early July.  During strawberry season we will have a variety of jams available as well as baked goods.

In summer and fall is when we have the greatest variety of fruits and vegetables.  Varieties of squash, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, beans, peas, carrots, leeks, eggplant, peppers, pumpkins, sweet corn, etc.
